Everybody remembers the old traditional games of 'Snakes and Ladders' and 'Ludo', games which we played as children with our own parents and grandparents. Here we have two traditional games in one, thanks to the sturdy double-sided playing board. And to bring the games more up to date, they are given a fun pirate twist. In the 'Snakes and Ladders' game, the jolly pirates use rope ladders to help them take short cuts to the big treasure chest and win the game. But they have to look out for the slippery sea snakes, which send them sliding back down the board. On the reverse side of the board is the game of 'Ludo', also with a pirate twist; players each have counters, and must try to be the first to get all their counters to their special pirate treasure in the middle of the board. If they land on the same square as another player, they can send that player's counter back to the start. This can prove very exciting when several players are close to winning the treasure, but have to look out for the others trying to send them home. Both games involve a lot of luck, and 'Ludo' can also include a certain amount of strategy, so children have to learn to be patient when the game isn't going their way.
